Version History Run a whole league with its own schedule and playoffs, play best-of series, and put your bracket on a TV.
• Leagues in Seasons: make a schedule (or let the app balance one for you), enter results each round, and the table, play-in and playoffs follow. Start from a format like League + playoffs or Pro basketball style, then change anything.
• Best of 3, 5 or 7: choose how many games each round plays, under Series in Create or Edit. Press and hold a match to enter each game's score; the team that wins most of them moves on. Every match is one game unless you choose a series.
• Show on TV: mirror your phone to an Apple TV or an AirPlay TV and the bracket fills the screen, with live winners, scores and what's up next. Find it in the … menu on a bracket.
• Triple byes: in bigger brackets, a team can skip straight to round four. Choose it under Byes in Create.
• Pick your app icon: four designs, including a new gold trophy. Find them in More → App Icon.
• New Bracket always shows the Season field, and the Done button for scores is bigger.
• The Guide in More explains everything new.
Also: small fixes. 24 52m ago Seasons: follow every team across all your brackets. Plus a full guide to the app.
• Seasons: put your brackets into a season, and every team's wins, losses and points add up in one table. Find it in the new Seasons tab.
• Double elimination now goes up to 64 teams.
• Two-sided brackets: switch on Two-Sided for a single elimination bracket of 8 teams or more. It splits into two halves that meet in the middle for the final. Off unless you switch it on.
• The Guide: every feature and setting, explained with pictures. Find it in More, or on the Brackets screen before your first bracket.
• Overview: see the whole bracket at once, and tap again to zoom back in.
• Very big brackets and two-sided brackets share as a sharp PDF instead of a blurry image.
Also: small fixes. 23 5d ago A simpler way to set up, named rounds, and results that went to overtime.
• Simpler setup: the main choices stay on the form, with a line showing how many rounds and games you'll play. Matchups and Byes each open their own screen, with every option explained.
• Round names: call your rounds whatever you like, such as Day 2 or Semis. They show above the bracket and on the scoresheet.
• Change byes after the bracket is made: move a team's bye to another team, or take it away when the numbers allow.
• Overtime: switch on Overtime when you enter a score. The score shows OT, and round robin and group standings get an OTL column (overtime win 2 points, overtime loss 1).
• Group stage: send the top 3 or top 4 of each group through, and see the final standings from 1st to last.
• Standings keep team names in place and scroll sideways through the numbers, so long names are never cut up.
• Don't use the live-match circle? Turn off Mark Live Matches in More.
• New to brackets? A new bracket now shows how to pick a winner and enter a score.
Also: double elimination scoresheets in playing order, group spots (A1, B2) in Edit, games played in elimination standings, a new Brackets tab icon, and plenty of fixes. 22 5d ago Set up the day your way, and see at a glance what's still going.
• Byes: give your top seeds a bye or a double bye, straight into round two or three, and choose exactly who gets one. Only fair setups are offered.
• Event details: add the date and place, name your courts, boards or fields, and give each match a start time.
• Now Playing: tap the circle between two teams to mark a match as being played right now. Mark as many as you have courts.
• Team colors: give a team a color and its boxes are outlined in it, with winners filled in. Prefer knocked-out teams plain? Turn that on in More.
• Scoresheet: a printable scoresheet for every bracket, with a box for each score.
• Choose the first-round matchups yourself, or keep neighboring teams together.
• Pick team names from your rosters instead of typing them again.
• Your brackets are now grouped by date, with an All / In Progress / Completed filter. Rosters are grouped by date too.
• Group stage now takes up to 128 teams.
• New here? A quick How It Works guide covers scores, live matches and team colors.
Also: a tidier bracket screen with Edit and one menu for the rest, Create and Edit in the same order, swipe to remove a team from a bracket you already made, and plenty of fixes. 21 Sep 28 Get a proper look at who's playing.
• Touch and hold a team's photo to see it full size, with the name underneath — handy when the picture is the thing you're voting on and a small circle isn't enough to go on. Tapping a team still picks the winner, exactly as before.
• Choose how new brackets start out. In More, under New Brackets, set Seeding to Seeded to keep the order you type the names in, or Random to have them shuffled for you. It applies to group assignment too, and you can still change it on any bracket before you create it. Seeded stays the default, so nothing changes unless you want it to.
• Fixed: a team name sitting next to a photo could be cut short. Names now fit alongside their picture. 20 Sep 6 Bring your team list with you, and decide how the tournament ends.
• Add every name at once instead of typing them one by one. Tap "Add All Teams at Once", then paste a list you copied from Excel, Numbers, Google Sheets, Word or Notes — or pick a .csv or .txt file.
• Bullets, numbering and extra columns are cleaned up for you, and you check and edit every name before it's added.
• Building a roster works the same way.
• Single elimination can now include a third-place match, so the two teams knocked out in the semifinals play off instead of going home. It counts in the standings and appears in shared images and PDFs.
• Double elimination lets you choose how the final works. Pick "Single Game" and one final decides it, instead of the losers-bracket team having to win twice. "Bracket Reset" stays the default, so tournaments you've already made are unchanged.
Fixed: in a doubles round robin, only one of the two partners was showing in each box. Both names are back — sorry, and thank you to everyone who wrote in.
Note: Excel and Word files themselves can't be opened on iPhone, so copy from them, or save your sheet as CSV first. 19 Sep 2 Save and share your tournaments — and a bracket that's much easier to read.
• Export a tournament as a file you can keep, email, or AirDrop. Whoever opens it gets the whole bracket, results and all.
• Back up everything at once from More › Export Brackets.
• Share any tournament type as a PDF — stays sharp at any zoom.
• Bigger, clearer team boxes with more room for long names, and seed numbers that line up properly.
• Team names can now be up to 30 characters.
• Round robins can run up to 24 rounds, and now show a points column.
• Standings show long names in full, ranked by position.
• Sharing and exporting are about twice as fast.
Note: team photos stay on your own devices, so a bracket opened on someone else's phone shows names without pictures. 18 Aug 2 Bracket Builder now speaks your language.
The whole app is available in French, German, Spanish and Portuguese — every screen, every button, every standings table. Team and player names you already typed stay exactly as you left them.
If something reads wrong in your language, tap Suggest and tell me. I'd rather fix it than guess. 17 Jul 30 Thanks for sharing feedback, here is what's new:
Standings, goal difference, and a clearer read on every tournament.
STANDINGS FOR EVERY BRACKET
Wins, losses and goal difference in one table — no more counting wins
across the bracket by eye. Open Standings from the toolbar of any single
or double elimination bracket.
GOALS FOR, AGAINST AND PLUS-MINUS
Track goals scored and goals allowed for each team, with a plus-minus
column, in round robin and elimination alike. They appear as soon as you
enter your first score.
BETTER ROUND-ROBIN RANKINGS
Level teams are now separated on goal difference before falling back to
the older tiebreakers.
GAME AND SEED NUMBERS
Label every match — G1, G2… across the bracket and L1, L2… in the losers
bracket — and show each team's starting seed. Both are optional, under
More › Bracket Display.
ICLOUD STORAGE WARNINGS
If your iCloud storage is full, the app now tells you rather than quietly
failing to sync. Your tournaments stay safe on your device either way.
WHAT'S NEW, IN THE APP
A record of everything that's changed now lives under More, so you can
see what's been added since you last looked. The Settings tab is now
called More.
Bracket Builder is built and supported by one person. If there's
something you need, tap Suggest and tell me — a lot of the above started
as someone's suggestion. 16 Jul 28 Import your saved brackets
Have bracket files saved from a backup, or lost your brackets after reinstalling? You can now bring them back. Tap ••• on the Brackets screen and choose Import Brackets — or find it in Settings under Backup & Restore.
You'll see exactly what each file contains before anything is added, and brackets made with much older versions of the app are supported.
